    Summer Break 2020 Programs: Update

We are aware of the recent CDC level increase in Iceland. In an effort not to disrupt students’ classroom learning portion of the program, TGP is transitioning all of our Iceland May and June 2020 programs to a two-part, modified program schedule with online course delivery. TGP is currently enrolling and running the online class components for May and June 2020 programs. Participants will NOT be travelling during the May or June 2020 programs. At this time, August 2020 programs in Iceland will be running as normal if the CDC restriction decreases before the program.

TGP’s Modified Program Schedule for Iceland May and June 2020 programs:

Learn more about the modified program schedule HERE.

    • Part 1: Online Course Delivery: The classroom portion will be run as remote classroom instruction provided by TGP and Reykjavik University – Iceland School of Energy. Classes will be hosted online during the same week as participants planned to travel so their class instruction will not be disrupted. TGP will issue a class schedule with the online course details. Students will NOT be travelling during this time due to CDC restrictions.
    • Part 2: Travel & Hands-on Component: Enrolled participants will be provided with a credit to travel to Iceland with TGP on a custom program in August or December 2020 (dates will be confirmed shortly) to complete the hands-on learning portion, site visits, excursions, tours, and experience to Iceland. TGP and our partners will provide a custom program for these participants and guarantees the same activities on a standard program (only without the classes since they were completed in Part 1). Details will be announced to students soon.

At present, The GREEN Program’s standard program model will function as normal in Peru, Nepal, and Japan. As we progress toward summer and continue to monitor the risk in each location, we are working with our onsite partners to determine if a similar adjustment to online instruction and delayed travel component will also be needed. TGP will continue to update our students and university partners should we progress to this stage.
